Game Sound Design Reel - Paulo Serbake

This reel compiles five distinct sound redesigns for cinematic and gameplay scenes, focusing on creating immersive, genre-appropriate audio from scratch through intensive sound design techniques.

🔊 Featured Scenes & Approach:

Ninja Gaiden (Cinematic): Focus on impactful weapon clashes and movement to heighten kinetic energy.

Pocket Bravery (Gameplay): Creating punchy, retro-inspired hits and special fight moves, as also some voices and grunts.

Blasphemous (Gameplay): Crafting atmospheric textures and visceral creature sounds to enhance the game's grim aesthetic.

Back 4 Blood (Gameplay): Designing tense, readable SFX for modern shooter combat and enemy cues.

Arc Raiders (Cinematic): Voices, sci-fi weaponry and robotic, movement sounds through synthesis and processing, and ambient textures.

🛠️ Technical Process:

Each sound was built through a transformative design pipeline:

Source & Selection: Curating high-quality base material from specialized SFX libraries.

Manipulation & Layering: Applying surgical editing, granular synthesis, and multi-layering to create unique sonic identities.

Processing & Polish: Utilizing custom effects chains (distortion, modulation, convolution reverb) for depth and cohesion.

Mix & Implementation Mindset: Balancing with a focus on clarity and impact suitable for real-time game audio contexts.

🎯 Objective: To demonstrate a focused understanding of how sound supports narrative, gameplay feedback, and genre conventions.
